I am a PhD student focused on special education at Temple University, and I am part of a fellowship program related to neurodevelopmental disorder with the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). As part of this fellowship with CHOP, I attended the Ausome Ambassadors program for a day and it was really a joy. The program involved so many different activities that made participation accessible for everyone there. The activities also targeted different forms of learning, from activities targeting sensory related skills, to activities targeting independent living skills, such as money management. Importantly, I think the space really fostered community among people there- both staff and Ausome Ambassadors. Everyone supported each other, chatted, laughed, and had a lot of fun together, a community environment which really seemed to be fostering positive social experience and social skills. This kind of social and community space is important for everyone, and I think is especially valuable for autistic people who might struggle with social connection. This space also provided so many opportunities for peoples’ personalities to come out- I was inspired to see how different activities really brought out excitement and engagement in different people. Additionally, Michelle was such a strong facilitator of the space. She was really passionate about the work, and clearly had her finger on the pulse of the community she was working with. All in all, I was honored to have the opportunity to be part of the Ausome Ambassadors space for a day, and I am excited to see where this program goes.
I had the best time when I visited spectrum success. Everyone was extremely welcoming and so friendly! It was great to learn about the program and see it in action. Michele has fostered an amazing community and I’m thankful I could be a part of it. I look forward to more visits!
As a well-educated professional and mother, receiving my son’s autism diagnosis placed our family in unfamiliar territory when it came to navigating the complexities of the education system.
Following a challenging situation at my son’s school, we were referred to Michele at Spectrum Success 911. From our very first conversation, Michele was thoughtful, knowledgeable, and incredibly reassuring. She immediately validated many of the concerns my spouse and I had identified but did not yet have the experience to effectively navigate within the school system.
As my son transitioned to a new school, we encountered early challenges surrounding his IEP and the level of support being provided. Michele stood beside our family throughout the process advocating, educating, and empowering us to ensure our son received the resources necessary to succeed.
Michele took the time to carefully review my son’s IEP and meet him personally. My son immediately gravitated toward her. He sensed her genuine care and compassion, and she quickly recognized both his strengths and his unique learning style. Her ability to connect with him while simultaneously guiding productive discussions with the school was remarkable.
With Michele’s guidance, we successfully advocated for my son to receive a 1:1 aide and appropriate access to general education. Within 30 days, the change was extraordinary. Our son began to noticeably thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
Michele remained consistently accessible, responsive, and deeply committed to our son’s best interests. She not only advocated for our child but empowered us as parents and inspired me to become more engaged in supporting families navigating similar journeys.
Advocates like Michele are not simply advisors they are often the bridge between a child struggling to be understood and a child finally being given the opportunity to succeed.
As someone who works professionally in a highly structured and complex field, I deeply value expertise, integrity, and results. Michele embodies all three. Her ability to combine knowledge, advocacy, and genuine compassion makes an extraordinary difference for families navigating the challenges of autism. Our family is just one example of the many lives she is helping transform.
I truly believe my son’s trajectory could have been very different without Michele’s involvement. I am deeply grateful that there are individuals like her who dedicate their lives to helping children reach their fullest potential and helping families find their voice when it matters most.
Because of Michele’s advocacy, my son was not only supported he was seen, understood, and given the opportunity to thrive. And, throughout the process we learned invaluable information that allowed us to better understand and support our son.
